Statement:

Sally Podmore - Artist Statement

Through her paintings, Sally Podmore explores the narratives between place, memory, sense experience, and the natural world.

Her study of space is an extension of her studies in Geography and is rooted in the understanding of landscape both as an encounter and the source of personal and cultural significance.

Podmore constructs and explores the movement, texture, and energy of organic forms and landscapes real or imagined. Compositions are built with acrylic paint through many layers of richly saturated colors; constructing spaces animated with emotional and transcendent meaning. The use of scale, pattern, light, and mark-making invites the viewer through the painting to re-experience sense-memory of natural spaces.

Her work is an expression of change, renewal, and growth; a window to a sacred

wilderness within.
